water damage revisited
We have had a lot of calls about water damage this week. It must be everyone getting ready for Christmas. People dropping their phones in puddles and keeping them near them in the kitchen. It can happen to anyone. I found an article on Yahoo about the subject. Here is a link to instructions on what to do that confirms we are not crazy about the rice idea. I'd like to highlight a few tips. 1. take out battery right away 2. do not try to turn on your phone for 12-48 hours 3. be patient. Of course if your phone does not come back to life after the rice bath, bring it in to Action Link Wireless. There are still things we can do to help bring it back to life.

swine flu and cell phones
Flu, Swine Flu, H1N1 oh my! Our phones are germ magnets. You can disinfect a cell phone at home. Use a cottonball and rubbing alcohol to lightly clean your cell phone. Use a damp (not soaked) cotton ball. Remember to go over the areas you touch the most, buttons, on/off switch, etc. Let your phone dry and repeat as needed. Costco has some moist towelettes that are made for electronics that work great too. Hope that tip helps us all stay healthier.

at home cell phone water damage fix...all you need is rice
We have all had the experience of getting water on our cell phone. Water damage is a leading cause of cell phone failure. There are even built in indicator dots on all cell phones to indicate if a cell phone has been exposed to liquid. Water damage will often void warranties. At Action Link Wireless we are able to save many water damaged phones. If you are unable to bring your cell phone in immediately you can take action at home to minimize damage. The "at home" fix for water damage is rice. Water damage can be reduced by removing your battery, and submerging your cell phone in a bowl of dry uncooked rice overnight. Yes, you read correctly RICE. The rice helps draw out moisture and will minimize damage. You do not want to replace battery and try to turn it on for 12-48 hours. The longer you are able to let the phone dry out the better. If the phone is turned on with water still present the battery shorts out the phone. We do recommend bringing water damaged cell phones in to our professionals as soon as possible for the best chance of recovery. There are other YouTube remedies out there that suggest microwaving your cell phone- DO NOT MICROWAVE YOU CELL PHONE. Microwave no - Rice yes!
